Serenity to Accept By Elizabeth Maddrey

About the Book

Karin Reid has never had much use for God. There's been too much pain in her life for her to accept that God is anything other than, at best, disinterested or, at worst, sadistic. Until she meets Jason Garcia. After his own mistakes of the past, Jason is committed to dating only Christians. He decides to bend his rule for Karin, as long as she comes to church with him. As their friendship grows, both will have to decide if they'll accept the path God has for them, even if it means losing each other.
ElizabethMaddrey  Elizabeth Maddrey Elizabeth Maddrey began writing stories as soon as she could form the letters properly and has never looked back. Though her practical nature and love of math and organization steered her into computer science for college and graduate school, she has always had one or more stories in progress to occupy her free time. When she isn’t writing, Elizabeth is a voracious consumer of books and has mastered the art of reading while undertaking just about any other activity. She loves to write about Christians who struggle through their lives, dealing with sin and receiving God’s grace. Elizabeth lives in the suburbs of Washington D.C. with her husband and their two incredibly active little boys. Spiralling Out of Control by Michelle Dennis Evans

Book Blurb:
Temptation, depression, seduction, betrayal ... Not what Stephanie was expecting at fifteen years of age. Uprooted from her happy, all-girl high school life with a dream filled future and thrown into an unfriendly co-ed school, Stephanie spirals into depression.

Every choice she makes and turn she takes leads her towards a dangerous path.
Her best friend is never far away and ready to catch her … but will she push Tabbie too far away when she needs her most?

This novel contains adult themes, and is recommended reading audiences 17+

Excerpt:

Chapter 3 part a

“You must be Stephanie. I’m Mrs Bardon.” The teacher’s chins
flapped as she turned her well-rounded body to face the class. “Students, meet, Stephanie.”
Voices mumbled, heads turned and hands smothered snickers. Stephanie looked for some support, hoping to see a friendly face, but she couldn’t find anyone to connect with.
A loud wolf whistle floored her. “Check it out. Check out the new piece!” cheered a shaggy-haired boy.
Mrs Bardon cleared her throat. The vibration echoed around the room.
Stephanie swallowed as fire moved up her neck and exploded in her cheeks. She’d never been whistled at before. Co-ed sucks. She repositioned her feet for escape, a quick dash and she’d be gone. But her soles felt glued to the floor. She looked to the teacher, hoping for some help or at the very least, a rebuttal. What came didn’t satisfy the crime.
Mrs Bardon cleared her throat for the second time, dropping a heavy textbook on her desk. “Find a seat, Stephanie. Anywhere is fine.”
Stephanie held her head down, glancing from desk to desk to find a seat.
“Come here, sweetheart, I saved this one just for you.” Wolf-whistle-boy smacked the desk beside him as the class erupted in laughter.
She waited for Mrs Bardon to reprimand the boy. But she didn’t. Does this teacher have a clue? Hoping to shrink away from any more attention, Stephanie slinked into the seat of an empty desk between two girls. She smiled towards their blank faces. Both girls focused on her with icy eyes, then turned to each other and grinned. What is that supposed to mean?
“Class!” Mrs Bardon slammed not one, but a pile of textbooks down on the wooden desk. The thud silenced the class.
“Let’s get back to the roll … Melinda Black …”
“Uh huh.”
“John Class …”
“Yow!” It was wolf-whistle-boy. Yeah, all class.
Mrs Bardon looked up from the roll. “John, this is your last warning. Your behaviour this morning is unacceptable and I will be reporting the whistling.”
The class giggled, bringing more heat to Stephanie’s cheeks.
Mrs Bardon continued. “Monica Hannack …”
“Yep,” said the blonde girl sitting next to Stephanie.
Stephanie zoned out for the rest of the lesson. Her heart still thumped in her chest when the bell rang. She let the flow of students carry her to the hallway. Like a fish in a duck pond, she searched the sea of students and approached a group of girls to ask for directions. Without speaking, they pointed to a map on the wall and walked away. She wished she hadn’t asked them in the first place, and pulled out the map she was given on arrival.
Stephanie shook her head. Surely this was a nightmare. When the final bell sounded, she left the school grounds ahead of the other students to meet her mother in the car park.

Excerpt:
Chapter One-Struck by Lightning

Paul encourages Timothy: youve been chosen to do this by the God who raises the dead! Thats all you need. It doesnt matter that youre young. It doesnt matter that you dont know all I know. God chose you are you willing?
Thats the secret of Bilbos victory, too: hes been chosen. He doesnt know why. He probably thinks all of Gandalfs fireworks have shaken the wizards brain too much. But, just knowing that someone so great picked him makes him gather his small courage and believe he has a shot.
Then, he takes the next step. He decides hes willing to do whatever he has to do for the job. Steal from a dragon? Carry out a wild river raft escape? Negotiate peace between forces at war? Take on giant spiders? (Thats where youd lose me!) He just does it, because someone has to, and hes been chosen.
What abOut yOu?
What responsibilities has God given you? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to do them well?

The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman

Excerpt:
Chapter One

Twenty years earlier
The shadow creatures on the wall shook their wings and legs. Heads with horns nodded. Scary, dark faces watched.
The little girl clasped her floppy-eared rabbit against her chest and stared into the dark.
“Mmm …” Mommy’s murmur reached to her through the walls, and the giggles from her mother tiptoed in, shooing the fear away.
Whoosh. She blew out a breath and squeezed her rabbit tighter. “Mommy has a friend with her, Ramsey. She loves me just like I love you and will give me hugs in the morning after the man leaves.”
Ramsey said nothing. She ran her fingers over his face and could feel his black button eyes staring at her, trusting her to protect him.
“And she’ll read to us and I’ll sit on her lap and we’ll snuggle—all of us together.” She nodded and tugged on Ramsey’s left ear then rolled over.
Real live whispers and laughter floated into the room.
Opening her mouth in a wide yawn, she patted Ramsey’s tummy and whispered again, “Don’t be afraid. I’m right here.”
“Please. That hurts.”
“Mommy?” The little girl frowned but her eyes wouldn’t open. Just like they did when she and mommy put cucumbers slices on their eyes.
“Stop it—”
Rubbing at her eyes the little girl sat up. Mommy had never sounded like this before, and neither had any of the men—the men who brought flowers and candy and money.

Ten years in the making, The First Children of Farmington series of early reader books has finally reached book sellers. I spent two years researching and writing this series. Several years after I worked with other community historians to collect and record our early pioneer history, I realized that we had quite a diverse ethnicity to Farmington, Wisconsin. Although these stories are based on real people and real events, they are representative of issues and struggles and joys families face every day everywhere.

The Potawatomi Boy is a character with a running thread through all the books. When I first started out with the project I was taking classes from the Christian Writers Guild. I set out to put together a series of picture books and connected with a couple of different artists. I wrote the text, but learned over several years that it’s harder to get the attention of a publisher for children’s books than it is for adult books. I’d never considered self-publishing, but through connections with my current illustrator and publishing partner, Brenda Hendricks, and others at the John 316 Marketing Network, learned a lot about not only self-publishing options, but how to publish well. The second book in the series, The German Girl, is now available, as well, about a curious young girl who becomes lost while searching for the family cow, and the third book, The Saxon Boy, about a young boy who must learn to accept a stepfather, may be out by Christmas. I was quite surprised and pleased to have won a prestigious Jade Ring award for the Saxon Boy from the Wisconsin Writers Association. The other three stories, The Yankee Boy, The Irish Girl and The French Girl, are planned for release in 2014.

The books include references, glossaries, and special illustrations and a picture search. They are suitable for early to middle grades, ages 7-9 or so.

You may also find the book at Barnesand Noble  and  Booksamillion

From December 1 through December 16, the John 3:16 Marketing Network is hosting a Christmas Book Launch and The Potawatomi Boy is a featured book. Shenandoah Crossings

Title: Shenandoah Crossings By Lisa Belcastro

About the Book

Tess Roberts may live on Martha’s Vineyard, vacation spot for movie stars and presidents, but the Island feels anything but idyllic. Tess has had it with lousy dates, lying, cheating men, and the rules that forbid her from working on her family’s centuries-old schooner, Shenandoah. Lucky for Tess, she knows a secret—the Shenandoah has magical powers. Her best friend, Rebecca O’Neill, once stayed in Cabin 8 and discovered a time portal that transported her to 1775. A month after Rebecca’s “disappearance,” Tess’s father, brother, and Shenandoah’s annoying first mate, Hawk, plan to shut down the time travel for good by dismantling the cabin. But what if Rebecca might someday need to come home? What if Tess isn’t ready to say goodbye forever? Sneaking onto the ship late at night, Tess slips into Cabin 8 and drifts off to sleep. She wakes anchored off the New England coast amidst the American Revolution in 1776. The British frigate HMS Greyhound has seized Shenandoah and taken the crew, cargo, and all onboard hostage. To make matters worse, Hawk is relentlessly tracking her, determined to bring her back to the twenty-first century against her will. Sparks begin to fly, from more than cannonballs and gunpowder….

Women Need Other Women

Click for Amazon Author Page
Many women do not realize that God intended them to have life long friendships with other women. Friendships such as Jonathan and David shared Old testament days.

Friendships for women are not intended for just while we are single and supposedly carefree.

In other times and other cultures, the women folk banded together while the men went out into the hostile environment to hunt and provide for the family.
Women have always been industrious as well. We read in Proverbs 31 how the virtuous women deals with employees, and deals with the merchant. How she provides for her household, even purchasing real estate.

Women Have Emotional Needs.  That's why Sharon A. Lavy writes Women's Fiction.

While men can fulfill one kind of emotional longing, only another woman can understand ... well, have you ever seen men talking at the same time and absorbing the gist of the conversation?
Oh no, men want you to remain silent and let them do a monologue. No wonder we women shut down. And if we try to interact with them, the men shut down.
By cultivating friendships with other women we can be kinder to our husbands, who's minds work ... well ... let's face it their gears turn funny.
